Feb 13, 2023. #1. Gonna drain and fill the 6F35 in the fusion again soon and was wondering if anyone is running Dex VI instead of Merc LV? I Valvoline ATF says it covers both but can I just use Dexron VI? It's about half the price of Merc LV and more readily available.

rolex watch engraving problems
Hey guys I bought my first Rolex and got a good deal because of the engraving on the back case of it. Has anyone had experience with removing an engraving off the back of a watch? I can't just replace the back with a new one because it's a vintage Rolex. After only a minute, the engraving is completely gone. You could use a finer grit now (or you could have started with 120 grit, etc); to eliminate the grain left. You shouldn’t rush into engraving a watch – especially an expensive one. Kick around a few ideas with friends, gauge public opinion and make a list of possible inscriptions before you drop your watch off at the engravers. Yes it is possible to remove the engraving if it's not too deep. An experienced watchmaker will be able to tell you if they can remove it. Personally I don't mind engravings and think it adds character, history and charm to the watch. In .
If they are deep then you have to remove a lot of metal to polish it out. If the engraving is shallow then it is easy to remove without harming the caseback. I recently had Bob Ridley remove an engraving that was shallow and it turned out great. Most Z-serial Rolex watches do not have the inner bezel engraving. D and F serials overlap and either could have it, just as the Z and M overlap with the rehaut on the Stainless steel models. All the 116400 Milgauss have the engraved rehaut.
How hard would it be to remove the engravings on the clasp?. It’s a brand new bracelet and I don’t really wear it as I wear the watch on leather. Am I better selling it as is or attempt to get the engraving removed?. You or a jeweler could polish the part down to the point of removing the engraving. You could also replace the part the engraving is located. To remove an engraving, a jeweler has to laser the metal at the area of the engraving, blasting it to level out the texture of the metal. Once this is done, the jeweler polishes the item and restores it to a smooth, blank surface. Anything is possible. On a gold-filled case, you'd probably want to de-plate the caseback, solder-fill the engraving, file it all down smooth, and replate. Lot of work though. The engraving in the picture looks very clean and doesn't really detract much from the aesthetics of the watch, so I wouldn't think it's worth the effort.
