A good friend of mine is a big guy, but very skinny wrists. I lead him towards EXP1 (2016) and he is extremely happy with his purchase. The watch looks like a great match for him (in overall picture). Anything smaller would have looked too small on him, even though 39mm is a bit big on his wrist.I am currently trying out one of the 36mm homages of the Explorer 1. At first I thought it was a little too small. However, the more you wear it, the more you realize how much it stays "out of the way". It's super comfortable, and unintrusive. Most importantly, IMHO it pairs better with multiple outfit styles and colors. Your wrist size accommodates the Explorer well within reasonable means. I have owned a neo vintage 14270 Explorer as well as the 39mm (which I felt was larger than the original design and lacked the “style” of the 36mm), and finally my current Explorer, a 2021 era 124270 36mm on my 7.25” wrist.
The 36mm felt small, and I was told that the 39mm fits perfectly for me. I look forward to trying out the 39mm again. I wonder if the diameter of just the dial is bigger than say a sub's dial.
